Income Protection
Income Protection ("Permanent" Health Insurance / PHI) is designed to pay a monthly benefit to protect income in the event that the policyholder is unable to work through long-term ill health or accident.
Most policies have a deferred period before they start paying benefits to the policyholder - the longer the deferment, the lower the premiums. Benefits may also be paid for permanent disability - although the definition of disabled varies from company to company, and is sometimes not restricted to the ability to carry on the previous profession or trade.
Group policies can be arranged to provide employee benefits for staff.
